Sports/Deep Tissue Massage,

This is a dynamic form of massage therapy. Though similar to Holistic or Swedish massage in the movements used, it is typically much firmer, using a number of additional techniques which work deep tissue.

The recipient is treated on a massage couch and towels are used to keep the client warm, with only the area being worked upon left exposed; a small amount of oil is used to facilitate working the soft tissues.

It is good for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance to the musculoskeletal system, breaking down scar tissue and adhesions within the muscles; it reduces strain and discomfort caused by physical activity, encouraging the body to heal and repair any injuries sustained; assists in mental and physical preparation for a specific event or performance.

It can prevent injury: regular 'maintenance' treatments help to locate, identify and treat areas of specific tension within the tissues before they become problematic.

Since qualifying in a number of treatments, Sports/Deep Tissue, On-Site and Indian Head Massage, I have been building up a regular local practice. One of my regular clients is Goldsmiths University, where for a number of years I have run both an extremely popular ‘seated bodywork’ massage session for staff and individual Sports/Deep tissue treatments for both staff and students.

My training is accredited with City & Guilds, ITEC, LCIC and a member of the Complementary Therapy Association (CThA)
